Badge of Honor

A BADGE OF HONOR

Throughout our life, we form essential relationships of various types whether it be in the form of our friends, colleagues, or partners. But have we really looked into where and how we learn to create and maintain these relationships? This ability is generated from the purest and deepest form of emotion: a mother’s love. We learn how to deal with pain, overcome struggles and stay resilient through the prime examples of our mothers. First, they bear the discomfort of carrying us for 9 months, then face the unimaginable pain of bringing us into this world and raising us to hopefully see us become accomplished humans. They spend countless sleepless nights worrying over us but never complain

A mother’s love is unlimited and bountiful. It serves as an important driving force that helps us establish who we are as humans in the form of support and guidance. A mother’s love consists of sacrifices, pain and fathomless devotion to her children. Many young adults continue to idolize their parents for they’ve seen the struggles faced by them and how gracefully they overcome those hurdles. Like many others, I have also looked up to my mother since childhood. She is the kind of person who radiates positive energy and tries her best to bring light into the lives of all those around her. Her positive outlook to life has always been her most admirable quality. She has encouraged us to do the same which helped transform us into the kind and hardworking people we are today.

By profession, she worked as an executive chef for over 30 years. She has continued working past her age of retirement purely for her passion of cooking. Trying the latest recipes, to experimenting on her own, was a common practice in our household. The determination and effort my mom put into her work inspired me to follow her footsteps. She’s taught me all that I know about cooking and baking. Being able to experience international cuisines from such an early age, boosted my confidence allowing me to pursue my dreams. From the beginning she’s taught me all the essentials of living life. She taught me to walk, talk, eat, and basic etiquettes

As a family, we’ve experienced all our highs and lows together. One of the lowest points in our lives was when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. While her will to live was very strong, my fear of losing her was stronger. As someone once said, “A mother is afraid of the world for us, but she doesn’t know that we are afraid of the world without her.” That was the moment when I realized her importance in my life and appreciated all she’s done for us. She encountered all her treatments with a smile on her face. Her strength continues to inspire me to this day. Her support, guidance, and belief in me has brought me the success I could have only dreamed of. Rose Café is opened and named in her honor, to do justice to the timeline she has created.

She’s always been able to understand what I say and what I’m unable to say. The reassurance that she’ll always be there when I need a shoulder to cry on, is what gets me through life. She laughs with me, shares my pain with me and never judges me. There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe my gratitude to you. Without you I’d be hopeless and lost in this world. I’m forever indebted to you for the love and compassion you have shown me all my life. A soul as selfless and unique as yours is hard to come across in this world of self-absorbed humans. Thank you for being my biggest supporter and cheerleader. My love for you knows no bounds, Lolo and mummy Rose, I am Immensely grateful.
